The following are the basic tenses commonly taught at the junior high school level, complete with brief explanations and example sentences:
Function: Expresses facts, habits, or routines.
Formula:
(+) Subject + V1 (s/es for he/she/it)
(–) Subject + do/does + not + V1
(?) Do/Does + Subject + V1?
Example:
(+) She goes to school every day.
(–) She does not go to school on Sunday.

Function: Expresses events that are currently taking place.
